Vacuum works great for low carpets but you can hardly get it to move on med shag rugs, it doesn't really self adjust and there is no lever to change the setting either. You have to use two arms and use all your weight to try and vacuum just one row and you must also set it on low or it will not budge. I was attempting to vacuum on low carpet the other day and the handle completely broke in half, it is made of thin plastic. This vacuum, was purchased in April 2010 and when I took it to the designated Hoover repair place in my area they said that Hoover headquarters takes 4-6 weeks to process warranties which seems awfully long. This vacuum has a 5 year warranty on it. We own 2 of this model and spent $400 on the first one and $229 on the second one. The customer service through Hoover is very poor. When we dropped it off at the repair shop another one just like this model had been dropped off earlier by another customer that morning for the same exact reason and that vacuum's handle had snapped in two in almost the same place as ours!
