I am the janitor at our church and our pastor bought this vacuum as a second behind our other Oreck that has been faithful for at least ten years. It was bought because of the name and it seemed to be a good deal at the time. Unfortunately, it has been nothing but heartache and pain. It looks and seems durable but don't let that fool you. It is filled with plastic parts all the way through. The rotating brush was made of plastic parts and a small piece of gravel got sucked up in the machine and broke off a piece of the bristle. It had to be taken in to be fixed. As I recall the older machines had a more durable rubbery plastic that was not easily cracked or broken. Plastic parts holding the cord have broken off and now the third prong to cord has broken off into the outlet. The long part of the handle stands at a crooked angle, as though it was bent forward.It is unfortunate that a good name like Oreck has had to resort to cheap materials to make a product. I would not recommend this vacuum to anyone and I would not trust something just because of it's name.
